Media Advisory: Execution of Roy Lee Ward Scheduled for October 10

The Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) is providing logistical information for members of the media planning to cover the execution of Roy Lee Ward, scheduled for October 10, 2025, at the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City.

Media Schedule

• The execution is scheduled to occur after 12:00 a.m. CDT on October 10.
• Media staging access begins at 8:00 a.m. CDT on Thursday, October 9.
• Street closures will begin at 4:00 p.m. CDT.
• Media updates will be issued and posted at: https://www.in.gov/idoc/news-media-and-publications/press-releases/

Media Staging and Parking

· Media will not be permitted on prison grounds.

· A designated staging area will be set up in the parking lot near Hitchcock, Chicago, and Park Row Streets, offering a view of the facility's front entrance.

· Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

· Media must enter from the Chicago Street entrance.

Street Closures

Beginning at 4:00 p.m. CDT, the following streets will be closed:

• Hitchcock Street between Chicago and Cooper Streets
• Park Row between the facility entrance and Chicago Street

Additional Information

· No on-site interviews or briefings will be held.

· Drone activity is prohibited under IC 35-44.1-4-10; violations will be prosecuted.

· The staging area is outdoors with no shelter, restrooms, or power supply-please plan accordingly.

· Media are expected to act professionally and respectfully; disruptive behavior may result in removal from the area.
