Buckeye Entrepreneurs Graduate from Business Builder Startup Academy

Buckeye is proud to celebrate the successful conclusion of the inaugural Buckeye Business Builder Startup Academy, a 10-month program designed to support aspiring and early-stage entrepreneurs as they develop, launch and grow their businesses.

The first cohort graduated 30 participants, marking a major milestone for the city's growing small business support efforts.

Throughout the program, participants received guidance on key business topics including business planning, marketing, licensing, taxes, access to capital, insurance, artificial intelligence, public speaking and pitch development. The academy provided participants with direct access to local business resources, experienced mentors and a supportive network designed to help them take the next step in their entrepreneurial journey.

The program culminated with a graduation and pitch night, where participants had the opportunity to pitch their businesses in front of nearly 100 attendees, including Mayor Eric Orsborn, family members, mentors, instructors, community partners and supporters. The graduation and pitch night showcased the creativity, passion and hard work of the inaugural cohort.

Three pitch awards were presented during the event: Mayor's Choice, Audience Choice and Best Pitch, selected by the cohort's mentors and instructors. Kevin Ivory with the Ivory Strong Foundation swept all three awards with his powerful pitch and inspiring vision for his organization that works to empower youth and veterans in our community.

The Buckeye Business Builder Startup Academy is part of the city's broader Buckeye Business Builder program, which provides resources, education and support to entrepreneurs and small business owners in Buckeye. The next Buckeye Business Builder Startup Academy is scheduled to begin in January 2027, with applications expected to open in the fall.
