The City of West Jordan was proud to join Copper Hills High School in celebrating three incredible students who recently risked their lives to save others.
Cammerin Inselsberger, Carter Jacobson, and Gabriel Hernandez rushed into a burning home, worried the homeowners might be trapped inside. Instead, they found two beloved family dogs, Rocky and Simba, who were unable to escape. The teens rescued the dogs and brought them to safety.
On the morning of Tuesday, September 19th, Copper Hills High honored the students during a surprise recognition ceremony. City and school district leaders, parents, West Jordan City firefighters, City Council members, and Mayor Dirk Burton were all there to celebrate these remarkable young men. Rocky and Simba even joined in the event with their family.
District Safety Specialist and former Army Ranger Matt Alvernaz presented the students with a traditional military-style "Honor of Excellence" award. Each received a commemorative coin and gifts in recognition of their bravery and selflessness.
The City of West Jordan congratulates these three young men for their heroic actions and thanks them for being shining examples of courage and compassion in our community.
