School of Dentistry adds HealthNet of Rock County as external rotation partner

Marquette University School of Dentistry has established a formal partnership with HealthNet of Rock County as an external rotation site for dental students, expanding community outreach to southern Wisconsin.

Janesville-based HealthNet serves as a valuable site for addressing oral health needs - in addition to medical and behavioral health clinics - supporting patients from the Janesville area as well as surrounding rural communities that often face barriers to accessing dental care.

Marquette's external rotation program allows fourth-year dental students (D4s) to travel off-site to provide direct care to patients with the oversight of a licensed dentist, known as a preceptor. Dr. Ana Nawaz, a dentist at HealthNet, will serve as the primary preceptor while Marquette's D4s rotate for one week at a time.

"This partnership is incredibly meaningful for our students and Marquette University School of Dentistry," said Dr. Le'erin Voss, director of externships. "It allows future dentists to serve a deserving community while seeing firsthand the impact of expanding access to care and improving oral health for patients in southern and rural Wisconsin."

Locations in Wisconsin currently served by the School of Dentistry's external rotation program.

HealthNet of Rock County, which began hosting students during the spring 2026 semester, is Marquette's seventh active external rotation site, joining locations in Appleton, Eau Claire, Elkhorn, Milwaukee, Oconomowoc and Waukesha. Licensed dentists interested in becoming a preceptor should for more information.
