Alabama Business Owner Selected for National Goldman Sachs Program

Montgomery, AL - The City of Montgomery is proud to announce that Alabama-based business owner Brittney McCurry Wingate, Founder of The Region HR Consulting Firm, has been selected to represent Montgomery and the State of Alabama in Cohort 10 of the Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women: Black in Business program. Wingate is one of just 300 women chosen from thousands of applicants nationwide and the only participant selected from Alabama.

The Goldman Sachs Black in Business program is a free, comprehensive business education initiative designed to equip solopreneurs with the tools to create jobs, expand opportunities, and generate economic growth within their communities. Participants engage in 12 weeks of online instruction paired with an all-expenses-paid, in-person experience at Goldman Sachs headquarters in New York. Each entrepreneur is matched with a strategic advisor who provides hands-on guidance to help accelerate business growth.

Wingate shared her enthusiasm for the opportunity, noting the significance of representing Montgomery and Alabama on a national stage.

"As the founder of the first minority-owned and women-led full-service HR company in Alabama, I am excited to utilize the skills, knowledge, education, and mentorship I receive in this program to transform the way my business provides human resources support to businesses in Alabama," she said.

Since its launch in 2022, the Black in Business program has supported growth for more than 2,000 minority small business owners. Within six months of completing the program, 57% of participants report revenue increases and 35% expand their teams with new hires-demonstrating the program's strong impact on local economies.

"Congratulations to Brittney McCurry Wingate on this outstanding achievement," said Montgomery Mayor Steven L. Reed. "Being selected for the Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women: Black in Business program is a testament to Brittney's leadership, innovation, and the exceptional talent we have here in Montgomery. We're grateful to Goldman Sachs for recognizing and investing in one of our own, and we look forward to the economic growth and opportunities this experience will help bring to our community."
