SR 400 Northbound Flex Lane Near Windward Parkway Scheduled to Close Permanently in December
ALPHARETTA, GA - Weather permitting, Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) contractors will permanently close the State Route (SR) 400 northbound flexible shoulder lane, or flex lane, from just south of the Webb Bridge Road overpass to Exit 11, Windward Parkway, on December 13, 2026.

The approximately three-quarter-mile section will be permanently closed for construction activities as the SR 400 Express Lanes Project advances.

Beginning December 13, 2026, the flex lane will no longer operate as an additional lane during peak travel hours. Crews will remove the existing flex lane signage and striping and install temporary concrete barrier wall.

Four northbound travel lanes will remain open. Motorists will continue to have access to Exit 11, Windward Parkway, via the right lanes. Motorists continuing northbound on SR 400 should remain on the roadway and continue straight.

Motorists are advised to use extra caution and allow additional travel time when traveling through this area as construction crews, equipment, and temporary traffic configurations will be present in the coming months.
Advisory: Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones. Work schedule updates can occur due to weather or other factors, so check the SR 400 Express Lanes website for the latest updates. Additionally, before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions by calling " 511," visiting 511ga.org, or downloading the "Georgia 511" app.
