In President Trump's first term, Fischer secured the first and only nationwide Paid Family and Medical Leave policy by creating a tax credit in the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
Last July, when Republicans were crafting the Working Families Tax Cuts, Fischer led the charge to make the tax credit permanent.
The general business tax credit allows employers to take a tax credit of up to one quarter of the whole cost of an employee's salary that the employer pays while staff is on eligible leave.
