SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV - Shepherd University President Dr. Cameron B. Wesson announced two new leadership appointments in an email to campus on Monday, August 31.

Dr. Jack DeRochi has been named provost / executive vice president for Academic Affairs, and Collin Alexander was appointed vice president for finance and administration.

DeRochi has served as provost and vice president for Academic Affairs since November 2024. His new title reflects the importance of academics in the University's mission.

"This appointment recognizes Jack's exceptional leadership, his deep commitment to Shepherd, and the central role Academic Affairs plays in the life and future of our students and our beloved University."

Alexander has served as Shepherd's interim vice president for finance and administration since March 2026. Wesson said making the position permanent is a positive step for the University.

"During his time as interim vice president, Collin [Alexander] has demonstrated not only a strong command of the University's finances and operations, but also the sound judgment, integrity, and steady leadership this position demands."

The appointments reflect Wesson's belief that Shepherd's future will be built through strong, collaborative leadership; honest and transparent conversations; responsible stewardship of resources; and a commitment to academic excellence and student success.

"I feel extraordinarily fortunate to have Collin and Jack as colleagues and partners in this work," Wesson added. "I'm excited about what lies ahead for Shepherd and grateful for the talented people across this University who make our work possible every day."

This change is the first in what Wesson said will be thoughtful and purposeful leadership decisions, guided by a simple but essential question: How can Shepherd best organize its people and resources to serve students?
