9 Pixel features for even easier phone calls

With the recent launch of the new Pixel 10 phones come nine new ways Pixel makes your calling and messaging experience even better.

1. Magic Cue

Thanks to Google Tensor G5 and Gemini Nano, Magic Cue proactively, privately and securely suggests helpful information right in your Phone app.

With your permission, Magic Cue can search across your Gmail and Messages to find the right info at the right time, whether it's that order number for those pet toys you just bought, or your flight confirmation code when you're chatting with an airline. That means Magic Cue can save you a lot of time.

2. Material 3 Expressive

As part of our recently announced Material 3 Expressive update, we've updated the Phone app's look. More than a visual refresh, it creates a more intuitive and easier experience.

That includes a choice of horizontal swipe and single-tap options for answering and declining calls, a simplified recent calls list and bringing your Favorites into your Home view so you don't need to navigate between screens.

3. Calling Cards

Material 3 Expressive also brings an added touch of personalization to Pixel 10 with Calling Cards, custom, full-screen photos that show during your calls. Select photos from your device or Google Photos account and customize each contact with special fonts and text colors.

4. Voice Translate

Finding your way through a foreign country? Working with people who speak a different language? Trying to charm your in-laws who live in another part of the world? Voice Translate has you covered. Running fully on-device, it uses AI to translate phone calls while retaining what sounds like each speaker's voice for a more natural experience. Once you've enabled this feature in settings on your Pixel 10, you can turn it on via the "Call Assist" menu during calls to pick a language and start chatting.

5. Call Screen and Scam Detection in more countries

Call Screen continues to be a fan favorite. Now, you'll be able to screen calls manually or automatically in Australia, Canada and Ireland. And Pixel 10 owners in India will be able to start experimenting with the beta version of Manual Call Screen soon, working in English and Hindi initially with more languages and dialects on the way. We are also working on helping users in India who do not speak the same language as the caller, by providing the ability to translate what is said to Call Screen to the user's language.

Scam Detection is also expanding to India, as well as Australia, Canada, Great Britain and Ireland, so more people can stay safe from phone scams.

6. Call Notes gets even better

People have loved using Call Notes to help remember key bits from calls. Your notes will now also suggest calendar events, tasks and reminders that you can create with one tap after your call, so you don't have to struggle with remembering details or scrambling for a pen during your conversations. And you'll also now have options to have Call Notes turn on for every call, with a helpful 3-second initiation timer so you can switch it off for calls you don't want to capture. Call Notes will also roll out to additional countries as a beta preview this year to Australia, Canada, India and Ireland.

7. Call Screen and Call Notes on Android Auto

More and more people rely on their Phone app to safely connect with friends and loved ones while they drive. To ensure you're only picking up when it matters, Android Auto will now allow your phone to screen calls in your car. And for when you have to take the call, but can't jot down the important takeaways, we're also bringing Call Notes to Android Auto later this year.

8. Take a Message

Take a Message is a new feature that separates your missed or declined calls from spam. You'll get real-time transcripts for missed or declined calls, with our signature spam detection algorithms filtering out those annoying spam messages. It will also use advanced AI to identify post-message next steps for you.

9. Call Recording expansion

Even without transcription or AI-powered note taking, basic Call Recording is a fundamentally useful feature for some types of calls. In all countries where Pixel is supported, Call Recording will be available on Pixel 6 and newer, for devices that can't support richer Call Notes functionality. Like Call Notes, by default a disclaimer is played to respect the other caller's privacy. This expansion to new countries will roll out through the rest of the year.

That's all of the latest on how taking, making and screening calls has gotten even better on Pixel.
