ROCKFORD, IL - Today Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) toured Downtown Discount Pharmacy in Rockford and introduced his Plan to Put Money Back in Your Pocket-a package of five bipartisan bills that will help lower costs for Illinois families. The Congressman joined Dr. Raj Patel, owner of Downtown Discount Drug Store, to tour the facility and talk about the need for policies that make prescription drugs cheaper.

"My neighbors are working hard, but they still can't reach the good life. From utilities to groceries, to gas and rent, we are paying more and getting less. Credit card debt has reached an all-time high, and our farmers and small businesses are struggling. Meanwhile, Trump and his family are getting rich off of our tax dollars," said Congressman Sorensen. "That's why I am introducing my Plan to Put Money in Your Pocket-to make sure that Washington is making your life cheaper and helping us get ahead."

Here's Eric's Plan to Put Money Back in Your Pocket:

Lower Gas Prices

I'm leading the fight to allow for year-round E15 which will lower prices at the pump, improve our energy independence, and give farmers access to important markets.

Lower Prescription Drug Costs

My bipartisan STOP GAMES Act will crack down on tactics that Big Pharma uses to prevent cheaper, generic drugs from coming to market.

Expand Affordable Housing

I'm fighting for the Housing for the 21st Century Act which will cut through red tape to build more housing, expand first-time homebuyer assistance, protect renters, and speed up new construction in rural Illinois.

Reduce Grocery Prices

My bipartisan Homegrown Fertilizer Act will lower input costs for farmers, and in turn, lower the cost of your groceries at the end of growing season

Lower Water Bills

I introduced a bipartisan bill to reinstate the Low-Income Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) to help families who are struggling with rate hikes and high water bills.
