"Nine years ago, my mother went to heaven after her battle with cancer," says country artist Jackie Lee. "After that, I experienced a lot of pain, but found hope along my path to healing."
With his deeply personal and vulnerable new song "After Loving You " -- out today, December 5th -- Lee perfectly captures the complex, internal struggle of trying to move on while not wanting to let go, bringing a chapter of grief to a close.
Listen to "After Loving You," here:
Written by Lee -- a Tennessee native whose artistry is forged from both authenticity, resilience and lived experience -- alongside Jeremy Bussey (Riley Green, Ashley McBryde, Luke Bryan) and produced by Matt McVaney (Lainey Wilson, Tim McGraw, Jordan Davis), "After Loving You" grapples with his desire to keep his mother's memory alive while helping his father rebuild a life forever touched by loss.
"'After Loving You" sums up life after my mom went to heaven," says Lee. "There have been more questions than answers at the end of a lot of days, but being able to share this song with the public in so many ways allows my family and me to finally close this chapter of grief and open up a hopeful new one. I hope this song means as much to all of you as it does to me."
Previously named an "artist to watch" by RollingStone, Billboard, CMT, HuffingtonPost and more, Lee's new song marks a bold new chapter defined by creative freedom. His "breakout hit" (USA TODAY), "Getting Over You," introduced him as one of country's most promising new voices, but years away from the spotlight -- overcoming two cancer diagnoses and enduring the devastating loss of his mother -- gave him perspective and honed his artistry. Now, he shares music entirely on his own terms, telling his story authentically and connecting with listeners through songs that are true-to-life and unmistakably his, a departure from the pressures that shaped his early career.
Fans can expect to hear more music from Lee in 2026. In the meantime, visit Instagram, Facebook, X and Youtube for more information.
