Oceanside READS, a service of the Oceanside Public Library, is launching a new online Cafecito English Conversation Class beginning in February. Cafecito offers a fun, engaging and accessible activity to help improve your English conversation skills. It is an English conversation group designed to help adults improve English-speaking skills in a small, informal and fun group setting. This free class, led by volunteer conversation guides, is open to all levels of English Language Learners.
Cafecito Online will meet every Wednesday, starting February 4, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Zoom. Participants can join the class using a smart phone, tablet or computer. Connect with your friends and neighbors for a fun and easy way to learn English from home! To register for online Cafecito, please call the READS Learning Center at (760) 435-5680, or sign up online at oceansidelibrary.org/events, in order to receive the Zoom link.
READS Learning Center currently offers five in-person Cafecito groups at various locations in Oceanside:
• Mondays, 5:30-6:30 p.m., Libby Lake Community Center; 4700 N. River Rd., Oceanside, CA. 92057
• Tuesdays, 10-11 a.m., READS Learning Center; 804 Pier View Way, Unit 101, Oceanside, CA. 92054
• Tuesdays, 12:30-1:30 p.m., Country Club Senior Center; 455 Country Club Ln., Oceanside, CA. 92054
• Wednesdays, 3:30-4:30 p.m., John Landes Community Center Library; 2855 Cedar Rd., Oceanside, CA. 92056
• Thursdays, 5:15-6 p.m., Civic Center Library; 330 N. Coast Hwy., Oceanside, CA 92054
Oceanside READS, Oceanside Public Library's adult literacy program, supports adults as they reach their education goals. Oceanside READS Learning Center provides free tutoring and small group classes for adults who want to improve their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills in a welcoming and encouraging environment. With the help of dedicated community volunteers, READS Learning Center has served thousands of individuals through three programs: Adult Literacy, Family Literacy and English Language Learning. A partnership between a grant from California Library Literacy Services and the City of Oceanside has sustained this service for over 27 years.
