To meet growing industry needs for short-form, targeted learning for emerging leaders, the University of New Hampshire Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics has launched two new online graduate certificates in Supply Chain Management and Managing and Leading People.
These programs join Business Analytics as part of Paul College's online graduate certificate portfolio.
Designed to accommodate working professionals, the programs offer the flexibility to enhance skills in current roles or explore new areas of expertise. Courses are delivered asynchronously online, and the four courses that comprise 12 credits can be applied toward the Paul College online-hybrid MBA program.
"We're hearing from both employers and professionals that there's strong demand for short-form credentials - programs that address specific skill gaps right away and have the potential to lead to something bigger, like the MBA," says Victoria Parker, associate dean for graduate education and faculty administration at Paul College.
The timing reflects current workforce realities: the growing complexity of global supply chains since 2020, and the urgent need for emerging leaders who can quickly develop management skills as they advance from technical roles.
Parker adds that there is also demand from student-athletes who come to UNH for an additional season of eligibility and want to earn credentials on an accelerated timeline.
Supply Chain Management
In supply chain management, professionals oversee everything from sourcing raw materials to delivering finished products. Paul College's graduate certificate is for business professionals seeking to expand their expertise in operations management, data analysis and forecasting, optimizing global supply chains, and project management.
Students who complete the program will gain the ability to identify the role of supply chains in modern business, develop strategies to improve operational efficiency, apply data analysis to assess risk and uncertainty, and implement effective project management techniques.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of logisticians - professionals who coordinate supply chains - is projected to grow 18% over the next decade.
Last year, Paul College launched a supply chain management option for undergraduates preparing for careers in this expanding field, and enrollment in this option has already taken off. The new online graduate certificate builds on that momentum.
Managing and Leading People
The Managing and Leading People graduate certificate equips professionals with the knowledge and strategies needed to effectively manage human capital, lead teams, and drive organizational change. Drawing on evidence-based insights, the program emphasizes both the art and science of people management, preparing graduates for leadership roles in business, government, nonprofit, and entrepreneurial settings.
Students who complete the program will be able to apply behavioral science principles to improve individual and team performance, demonstrate leadership grounded in self-awareness and emotional intelligence, develop strategic HR practices that align with business objectives, and utilize negotiation frameworks to navigate complex workplace challenges.
This program is particularly relevant for emerging leaders who started in individual technical roles and want to level-up their skills in influencing and leading others.
