County Commissioners proclaim April
as Alcohol Awareness Month

FREEHOLD, NJ - The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners proclaimed April 2026 as Alcohol Awareness Month during a workshop meeting on April 23.

A proclamation was presented by Commissioner Deputy Director Dominick "Nick" DiRocco to staff members from the Monmouth County Department of Health and Human Services.

"My fellow Commissioners and I declared April as Alcohol Awareness Month to encourage those who are struggling with alcohol use to seek out programs and resources that can help them on the path to recovery," said Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone. "It is crucial that we continue to raise awareness and connect individuals with life-saving resources and services."

"In 2020, the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners launched the Stigma-Free Monmouth website with the goal of reducing the stigmas associated with mental illness and substance use disorder," said Commissioner Susan M. Kiley, liaison to the Department of Health and Human Services. "In addition to the Stigma Free initiative, Monmouth ACTS connects residents to many human services through strong public-private partnerships, including substance use disorder. If you or someone you know needs help, please contact Monmouth ACTS at 732-683-8959."
