The Middlesex Vicinage will celebrate National Adoption Day on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 9 a.m. at the Middlesex County Family Courthouse.
Presiding Family Division Judge Daniel Brown will give remarks. The adoptive families, children, and participants will be welcomed by attorney E. Martin Davidoff, a trustee of the Middlesex County Bar Foundation. Also scheduled to speak are Tim Cummings, executive director of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Middlesex County, and members from two adoptive families.
National Adoption Day is an annual event in which courts and communities in all 50 states come together to finalize thousands of adoptions and celebrate families who adopt. The event seeks to raise awareness of the need for adoptive homes and to show appreciation for caregivers who choose to adopt.
The program is co-hosted by the New Jersey Department of Children and Families, the Middlesex County Board of County Commissioners, the Middlesex County Surrogate's Office, the Middlesex County Bar Association, and CASA. Information on the adoption process is available by calling 877-NJFOSTER.
Although the adoptions are closed proceedings, the celebration is open to the public. Reporters seeking to interview willing families after the adoption proceedings have concluded should contact Assistant Family Division Manager Anna Cotton at 732-645-4300, ext. 88662.
The event will be held in courtroom 101 of the Middlesex County Family Courthouse, 20 New St., New Brunswick. A livestream of the event also will be available on the Judiciary website at https://www.njcourts.gov/public/channels.
