Shore Medical Center Names Nurse Meldene Ronquillo, RN, BSN, its January Guardian Angel of the Month

Shore Medical Center has named Meldene Ronquillo, RN, BSN, of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, its January 2026 Guardian Angel of the Month, for providing passionate and exceptional patient care. Shore established the Guardian Angel program to enable community members to say "thank you" to a special Shore caregiver through a donation to the medical center in their honor.

A registered nurse on Shore's 4 Hayes/Advanced Spine & Orthopedic unit, Ronquillo has been part of the Shore Medical Center team since 2007, dedicating her career to supporting patients and families during some of life's most vulnerable moments. Known for her calm demeanor and thoughtful approach, she takes the time to listen, explain, and reassure, leaving a positive impression on everyone she cares for.

A grateful patient who honored Ronquillo with a Guardian Angel recognition shared:

"Meldene was on my care team and I can't thank her enough for the wonderful care, level of attention and warmth that was given to me. I felt safe, cared for and truly valued. Shore Medical Center is a special place because of people like her!"

In addition to her bedside care, Ronquillo plays a vital role as a Safety Coach for her unit, helping to foster a strong culture of safety. In this role, she monitors unit practices, completes compliance checklists, reports safety concerns, conducts hand hygiene and masking audits, and communicates findings with her department to support continuous improvement.

"Meldene brings a calm, steady presence to every situation," said her supervisor, Elaine Toolsie. "She listens thoughtfully and explains nursing processes clearly - whether to colleagues, patients, or families - making even challenging situations feel manageable. Her kindness and reassurance leave a lasting impact on everyone she works with."

Colleagues describe Ronquillo as dedicated, ethical, trustworthy, and deeply compassionate, and always willing to step in to support her department.

Outside of work, Ronquillo enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with her family. She is married and the proud mother of a son and a daughter.
