Water Main Incident Near Cuesta Park – 4/26/26 Update #2

8:45 p.m. Sunday, April 26, 2026 Update: The households affected by Friday's water main incident near Cuesta Park should be prepared for being without tap water for drinking, cooking, hand washing, bathing, and other domestic uses through mid-to-end of the week. As of Sunday night, nearly all of the homes now have their water turned back on for toilet flushing only.

The extended timeline for restoring safe drinking water is due to two of the five water samples coming back positive for bacteria. The crews are resuming flushing activities with the intent to rid the isolated system of the bacteria. On Sunday night and Monday morning, the City of Mountain View water utility crews will follow State Water Resources Control Board's instructions to conduct additional comprehensive drinking water safety testing.

Following all standard protocols, the City is closely coordinating with the State regulators to ensure safe water service is restored as quickly as possible.

Please see the updated map below of the affected area, which has been revised to show 65 affected homes total. Two homes, located on Leona Lane, have been removed due to those homes receiving water from a non-impacted water main.

For assistance, affected residents can call 650-903-6081 or email [email protected].
