PER KDOT COMMUNICATIONS: Please see the following traffic advisory from the Kansas Department of Transportation Communications Department for upcoming work planned for the Kansas City metro.
Kansas Department of Transportation maintenance work will require full closure of eastbound I-670 over the Kansas River in Wyandotte County for one week, beginning at 5 a.m., Monday, Nov. 17. Adjacent ramps will also be fully closed.
All lanes and ramps are expected to reopen to traffic by 5 a.m., Monday, Nov. 24, conditions permitting. Message boards have been placed in the area to alert motorists of upcoming closures. A detour will be marked.
The following will be fully closed to traffic from Nov. 17 to Nov. 24:
Traffic will be detoured as follows: Continue on eastbound I-70 to use the southbound I-35 ramp. Travel south on I-35 to use the eastbound I-670 ramp.
The maintenance repairs on the eastbound and westbound I-670 bridges over the Kansas River and Union Pacific Railroad and the Central Avenue bridge over I-70 and Union Pacific Railroad are tied projects, and include girder work, expansion joint replacement and bridge deck patching. These projects share traffic control and are expected to be completed in late November.
Work is scheduled during daylight hours, Monday through Saturday. Traffic will be controlled using lane and ramp closures, changeable message boards, signs, traffic cones and barricades.
