Chairwoman McClain Joins Oakland County Sheriff’s Office for National Police Week Ride-Along

ORION TOWNSHIP, MICH
.- House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) visited the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Orion Substation and joined them on a patrol for National Police Week.

"Thank you to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office and Deputy Miehlke for bringing me along and showing me what our law enforcement officers do every day," Chairwoman McClain said. "These men and women do not just respond when things go wrong. They help hold our communities together during difficult moments, including the water crisis families in Orion Township are facing right now. I also heard firsthand how No Tax on Overtime is helping officers who are putting in extra hours to keep our communities safe. House Republicans will always back the men and women in uniform who protect and serve."

Chairwoman McClain met with deputies and thanked them for their service to the community before joining Deputy Miehlke for a patrol ride-along through Orion Township. During the patrol, Deputy Miehlke conducted two traffic stops for violations of Michigan's Hands-Free Driving Law related to texting while driving.

National Police Week runs from May 10 through May 16, 2026, with Peace Officers Memorial Day observed on May 15. The week honors law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice and recognizes the men and women who continue to serve.
