Midland Fire Department Collaborates with Regional Partners to Secure FEMA Grant
October 17, 2025 - The Midland Fire Department, Saginaw Fire Department, and Bay City Department of Public Safety are the recipients of a Fiscal Year 2024 FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant. This grant will fund the replacement of 120 self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) across the three departments, with Midland receiving 36, Saginaw receiving 41, and Bay City receiving 43 SCBA.
The total grant award is $1,321,600, with a local share of $120,145.46, which will be split among the three departments. The new SCBA units are expected to be in service by summer of 2026.
Midland City Council approved acceptance of this grant during their October 13, 2025 meeting.
This collaborative effort highlights the strong regional partnership between the three departments and demonstrates their proactive, innovative approach in securing funding for the necessary replacement of firefighting equipment.
