The First Lesson of the School Year - 20 is Plenty!

WHEN FLASHING - Any time a yellow light on a school speed sign is flashing.

SCHOOL DAYS 7 am - 5 pm - Between those hours on a day school is in session. If you are unsure whether or not it is a school day, slow down to 20 mph.

WHEN CHILDREN ARE PRESENT - Any day, at any time children are present.

Children are Present means:

  • Children waiting at a crosswalk.
  • Children are occupying or walking within a crosswalk.
  • A crossing guard is present to assist children at a crosswalk.

Fines for speeding:

  • 1 - 10 mph over is $115
  • 11 - 20 mph over is $165
  • 21 - 30 mph over is $265
  • 30+ mph over is $440

If speeding in a school zone, the fines are DOUBLE what is listed above.
