Upcoming Webinar: Advancing Landscape Connectivity through Local Government Planning

From Plans to Practice: Advancing Landscape Connectivity through Local Government Planning

Across the country, collaborative landscape conservation and stewardship practitioners are working to maintain and restore habitat connectivity. There have been positive advances at the federal level around supporting landscape connectivity, and especially at the state level, where an increasing number of states are leading the way on connectivity policy and initiatives-yet the real leverage often lies in local government planning and policy.

In this webinar jointly hosted by the Network for Landscape Conservation and the California Landscape Stewardship Network , we will explore how to effectively engage with local government in embedding landscape connectivity into municipal and county plans, ordinances, and implementation. Drawing on a recent report from the Center for Large Landscape Conservation, Integrating Wildlife Habitat Connectivity into Local Government Planning , the webinar will offer key insights and overarching reflections about opportunities to advance landscape connectivity efforts through local government pathways, and will invite discussion with practitioners in real-world examples-from Ventura County in California and from the Triangle Connectivity Collaborative in North Carolina-where this work is moving forward on the ground.
