Two bus stops closed near Gilbert and Kirkwood intersection Sept. 24-26; alternate stops available

Depending on weather, two Iowa City Transit bus stops will not be serviced beginning Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2025, due to construction on the northwest corner of Gilbert Street and Kirkwood Avenue.

The outbound 1-South Iowa City route will not service stop 7011 located on Gilbert Street at Kirkwood Avenue. A temporary stop has been added to the south of the current bus stop, just south of the stop light next to Aero Rental.

The inbound 13-South Gilbert route will not service stop 7750 on Kirkwood Avenue at Gilbert Street. The route will need to detour Gilbert Street to Benton Street. Passengers who utilize stop 7750 are encouraged to use stop 7012 located on the southeast corner of Gilbert Street and Kirkwood Avenue.

The inbound 1-South Iowa City and 13-South Gilbert will both pick up passengers from stop 7012.

These impacts are expected to last through Friday, Sept. 26, 2025.
