Ambassador of Belarus U.Baravikou visits the Independence of the Lao People's Democratic Republic

On December 2-3, 2025 the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Vietnam and Laos non-resident, Uladzimir Baravikou, paid a working visit to Vientiane.

The Ambassador of Belarus met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos, Maythong Thammavongsa. The sides held an in-depth discussion on the further development of political cooperation, including the schedule of upcoming joint events. The parties reaffirmed the unwavering mutual support that the two countries extend to each other in international fora.

The Ambassador also met with the Head of the External Relations Department of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Bunleua Phandanouvong. The parties reviewed the current state and prospects of political and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries and discussed steps to intensify interaction between political parties and public organisations, including women's and youth structures.

At the invitation of the national leadership, Uladzimir Baravikou took part in the official events marking the 50th Anniversary of the Independence of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, including the ceremonial parade on the central square of Vientiane. Several thousand people participated in the parade, among them veterans of the revolutionary movement; units of the armed forces, public security, government bodies and public organisations marched in solemn formation.
