Tariff reviews commenced for regulated electricity and gas suppliers

06 May 2026

The Utility Regulator regulates the gas prices that SSE Airtricity Gas Supply (in the Greater Belfast and West areas) and Firmus Energy (in the Ten Towns area) charge to their domestic and small business customers. We also regulate the electricity price for Power NI's domestic customers. We refer to these as the regulated electricity and gas tariffs.

This regulation means we continuously monitor the various costs that make up these regulated tariffs. Then, when necessary, we approve any resulting change to the tariffs.

A formal review of the regulated tariffs of Firmus Energy and Power NI has now commenced. It is expected that the reviews will conclude by end of May and announcements on the outcome will follow soon after.

A review of SSE Airtricity Gas Supply is not currently under formal review at this time, however, we will continue to monitor this.
