City of Riverside Confirms Deadline to Reconsider Housing Grant Vote Has Passed

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The City of Riverside confirms the procedural deadline to reconsider the vote on conversion of the University Avenue Quality Inn into Permanent Supportive Housing has passed.

On January 13, 2026, the City Council voted 4-3 to decline the $20 million state grant application associated with the proposal. Under City Council procedural rules, that vote could have been reconsidered within three successive council meetings. The procedural deadline to reconsider the vote has passed.

There is no litigation related to this matter at present.

"The Council's vote on January 13 cannot be reconsidered," said Housing and Human Services Director Michelle Davis. "We are issuing this clarification to ensure the community has clear and accurate information regarding its status."

The City continues to advance housing and homelessness initiatives consistent with adopted Council policy.
