Today, the North Carolina Office of State Human Resources (OSHR) launched Workday, a platform that centralizes HR practices and simplifies processes for applicants, agency human resources staff, and hiring managers. Workday also aids OSHR's goal of attracting top talent to public service careers, helping to reduce vacancies across state government while enhancing the candidate experience.<_o3a_p>
"North Carolina is a great place to live and work," said Governor Josh Stein. "I am excited that the team at OSHR has met this new milestone in their work to streamline our HR systems, boost transparency, and attract more talented people who are committed to working toward a safer, stronger North Carolina." <_o3a_p>
In Phase I, the platform will streamline the state's recruitment, applicant tracking, employee onboarding and offboarding, position description management, and organizational charts in a centralized location.<_o3a_p>
"OSHR is working hard to make human resources easier, faster, and better," said State Human Resources Director Staci Meyer. "This first phase of Workday implementation takes us one step closer to realizing this goal, helping us better serve the people who want to serve our state." <_o3a_p>
From automated notifications to improved processes, jobseekers and HR staff alike will notice improved efficiency in the overall process of human capital management. <_o3a_p>
"There are various tasks that are going to now be done more efficiently, like reference checks and interview scheduling," said State Talent Acquisition Manager Kristin Siemek. "Reducing time spent on these tasks allows our recruiters to focus on what matters - bringing on highly qualified individuals as our newest state employees and ensuring transparency throughout the entire candidate lifecycle."<_o3a_p>
The launch of Workday marks another milestone in the state's effort to modernize and enhance its human resources system. Other recent achievements include the signing of Session Law 2025-34: State Hiring Accessibility and Modernization and the increasing of professional development offerings to eligible state employees with LinkedIn Learning.<_o3a_p>
As a result of S.L. 2025-34, all state job applications in Workday ask candidates if they would like to be considered for similar positions. Recruiters can use Workday's reporting capabilities to capture these potential candidates, aiding an applicant's opportunity for state employment.<_o3a_p>
"We will continue to see the full benefits of Workday as we roll out additional capabilities in future phases," said Director Meyer. "I look forward to working with our state's legislators to ensure these capabilities become a reality for North Carolina's workforce."<_o3a_p>
People interested in public service careers with state government can visit Workday to create a job profile and fill out a state application using their resume or LinkedIn profile. Further instructions and information can be found on OSHR's website.<_o3a_p>
