Southern Illinois University Edwardsville's music ensembles, comprised of talented SIUE students and faculty, have scheduled a month of October performances.
Conducted by Michael Mishra, DA, Director of Orchestral Studies, this past Friday evening at Dunham Hall Theater, the SIUE Symphony Orchestra performed works by Sibelius and Rachmaninov. Angela Kim, DMA, associate professor, Director of the Keyboard Area, was featured on piano.
Performances still to come include choral music and jazz beginning with SIUE Choirs and "In Her Own Words: Choral Settings of Poetry by Female Authors," at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
"Our concerts highlight not only the exceptional abilities of our students and faculty, but also the power of live performances to bring our campus and community together," said Marc Schapman, Chair of the Department of Music. "It's a joy to see our students and faculty bringing such rich, diverse music to life for our audiences."
The music series concludes with an evening of the SIUE Concert Jazz Band and Jazz Lab Band at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23.
All concerts take place in Dunham Hall Theater and are open to the public.
