GCCC Aquatics Update: Repairs Continue

Repairs to the air handling units at the Genoveva Chavez Community Center (GCCC) are continuing.

Please note: Bicentennial Pool is closed today, September 23, due to weather.

Since last week, the GCCC air handling units have received daily technical service and assessment, and a project manager from the City's Facilities Division has been assigned to support Recreation and Aquatics staff and oversee the project.

Technicians are repairing and replacing components that can be sourced locally while coordinating the fabrication of parts that must be custom-built for the system.

Both air handling units are currently online and operating at a minimum level. This helps prevent additional damage to the natatorium that could further delay reopening. However, the current level of operation is not sufficient to reopen the pool to the public.

City Facilities staff are also preparing to begin minor interior repairs. Timing may be affected by storm response needs in the coming days.

Pool Hours: September 28-October 2

Bicentennial Pool
Monday-Friday: 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday: 10:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Fort Marcy Pool
Monday and Wednesday: 6:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 6:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Hours are subject to change.

What Happens Next

Once the City has a clear timeline for the fabrication and delivery of the remaining parts, we will be able to provide a more specific reopening date for the GCCC pool.
