Thursday, October 09, 2025

Today, U.S. Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) issued the following statement on the passage of the Senate's National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2026 (FY2026 NDAA):

"Tonight the Senate has adopted my legislation protecting Ft. Leonard Wood's vital hospital from being downgraded or closed. This is a huge win for Missouri. The defense bill passed tonight also enacts President Trump's national security priorities, gives our troops a 3.8% pay raise, and makes needed defense investments across Missouri," said Senator Hawley.

Wins for Missouri in the FY2026 NDAA include:

  • Language protecting Ft. Leonard Wood's vital community hospital from being downgraded or closed;

  • Reauthorization of Senator Hawley's STOIC Act, which provides millions in critical grants for law enforcement mental health and family support services;

  • A $33.6 million investment for construction projects at Whiteman Air Force Base;

  • Provides $6.5 million for construction projects at Lake City Army Ammunition Plant;

  • A restriction on the divestment of A-10 aircraft, which are flown by Whiteman AFB's 442nd Fighter Wing; and

  • A restriction on the divestment of National Guard C-130 aircraft, which are flown by the Missouri Air National Guard's 139th Airlift Wing.
