On September 26-28, 2025, the Taiyuan Forum on Low-Carbon Energy Development (Shanxi Province, China) was held on the theme "Green and Low-carbon Transformation: Creating a new Energy System", organized by the People's Government of Shanxi Province, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the State Energy Administration of China.
The event was attended by more than 100 delegates, including diplomats, scientists, representatives of international energy companies, governors of the twin regions of the province.
Tan Deng Jie, Secretary of the Committee of the Communist Party of China of Shanxi Province, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the People's Assembly of Shanxi Province, and Lu Dongliang, Governor of the province, greeted the participants.

In his speech at the opening ceremony, Deputy Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization T.R. Midhoon noted that the SCO member states advocate the expansion of inclusive and mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of energy. The need to increase the stability of the production and supply chains of energy resources in order to form a stable global energy market was emphasized.
The Deputy Secretary General also participated in a round table with representatives of foreign diplomatic missions accredited by the PRC, outlining key areas of cooperation in the energy sector within the Organization. The importance of a fair transition to "green" and low-carbon energy was emphasized.
The Taiyuan Forum on Low-Carbon Energy Development is a platform for dialogue, cooperation and exchange of experience in the field of energy and sustainable development, which has been held since 2016 by decision of the State Council of the People's Republic of China.
