DNC Sues Trump Administration, Demanding Transparency on Threats of Voter Intimidation Arrow

The Trump administration has refused to comply with the DNC's 11 FOIA requests regarding potential voter intimidation tactics

Today, the DNC sued the Trump administration over its failure to respond to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests on any plans to deploy federal agents or troops to polling places, drop boxes, and election offices in upcoming elections.

In October 2025, the DNC sent 11 FOIA requests to the Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security, and Department of Defense seeking this information, but the DNC has yet to receive substantive responses to any of the requests, in clear violation of FOIA. This complaint comes amid countless attacks by the Trump administration on the integrity of our elections and voting rights.

The DNC filed the FOIA requests to prepare for any legal and educational actions needed to protect voters and election officials from intimidation. The DNC will continue to keep pressure on the administration and make clear that we are ready to defend voters against intimidation tactics.

DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:

"Donald Trump wants to bully and cheat his way through a midterm election that he knows Republicans will lose, but we won't let him. The DNC will stand on the side of voters and use every tool in our arsenal to stop voter suppression and intimidation before it can even begin."
