Awarded author and tenure-track professor of Communication Studies Corrina Laughlin was recently presented with the LMU Ascending Scholar Award.
Laughlin specializes in media studies, with a focus on exploring digital culture and information flow through the lenses of feminism and religion. Her scholarship encapsulates the pursuit of truth rooted in faith traditions - LMU's faith and reason core value. Laughlin's 2022 book, "Redeem All: How digital life is changing evangelical culture" won several annual book awards, and her scholarly work has been featured in The Atlanticand other popular news outlets.
"I was thrilled to be awarded the LMU Ascending Scholar prize. It is a deeply meaningful award because it comes from the LMU community, which I have been a part of since 2019 and which has been foundational to my growth and development" notes Laughlin.
Laughlin is currently working on a book project centered around the alt-tech movement and disinformation online. "I'm particularly grateful to the Communication Studies department and the College of Communication and Fine Arts for their support of my research" she says.
