December 20, 2025Funding will support the project team's small-scale research and development of a quantum computing system and algorithmic toolset to improve the efficiency of the energy grid and maximize cost-efficiency by coordinating generator sources to meet fluctuating energy demands. Specifically, the project team will (1) identify applicable toolset use cases, collect and formulate data, (2) develop, test, and validate software, (3) characterize use case solutions and scale solutions for a range of toolset scenarios, (4) refine and optimize toolset scenario solutions to prepare for quantum system, (5) develop, test, and validate quantum computing hardware components, (6) add code with use case scenario solutions to hardware, and (7) test and validate toolset scenario delivery outputs to verify accuracy, execution speed, and quality.
