On Thursday, Oct. 15, TidalHealth Peninsula Regional's Special Treasures Are Remembered (STAR) program held its annual Memory Walk in observance of National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day.
This event brought together more than 65 guests for an evening of reflection, honor, and remembrance for the little ones who left this world too soon. Attendees created personalized keepsakes, enjoyed refreshments, and participated in a meaningful walk that led to the STAR Memorial Garden.
At the garden, a poem was shared followed by a moment of silence. The memorial hardscape was made possible through the generosity of Cody and Loren Collins with Shore Outdoor Living, who helped make the dream of an outdoor memorial a reality. This special space offers healing, peace, and reflection for families throughout our community who have experienced infant loss. Personal touches were also added by Cody Mills in memory of his baby boy, Weston.
The mission of the STAR program is to serve the needs of parents and families who have suffered the loss of a baby through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth, or infant death. With help from the community, the program provides families with personalized keepsakes, support resources, and annual events such as the Memory Walk and the Candlelight Memorial Service.
We are honored to support families in our community who have experienced loss and to walk this journey with them. Those who left too soon will never be forgotten.
Save the date for this year's annual Candlelight Memorial on Monday, Dec. 16. More information will be shared soon.
