HACU holding research proposal writing academy as 40th Annual Conference post-conference event

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities will hold "From Idea to Impact: Research Proposal Writing Academy for Faculty Across the Disciplines," on Nov. 3, 2026, from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. as a post-conference event following the 40th Annual Conference at the Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention Center in Chula Vista, California. The one-day event will include interactive instruction, step-by-step through proposal development, and breakout discussions addressing unique proposal development needs.

Two sessions make up the day's events, with the morning session, "Positioning Your Research for Funding Success," providing practical strategies for interpreting funding solicitations, tailoring proposals to sponsor priorities, engaging effectively with program directors, and developing concise, compelling project pitches. The afternoon session, "Building a Persuasive Proposal Narrative," guides participants in articulating their works significance, frame meaningful research questions, communicate the broader contributions and potential impact of their projects, as well as practical guidance on developing each major component of a competitive proposal.

The research proposal writing academy will be led by Barbara Endemaño Walker, Ph.D., director of strategic research initiatives and special assistant for academic initiatives at the University of California, Santa Barbara; and John Crockett, Ph.D., associate vice president for research advancement at San Diego State University.
