Simi Valley Ends 2025 as a Top Filming Destination

Simi Valley experienced another strong year of filming activity in 2025, setting the stage for continued growth in 2026. With 296 production days, filming generated an estimated $5.25 million in economic impact, further strengthening the City's reputation as a premier filming destination.

A combination of diverse landscapes and a film-friendly environment attracted 87 productions last year, delivering economic benefits and job opportunities to the local community. Productions included 15 television shows, 37 commercials, 12 feature films, and a variety of independent productions. Notable titles filmed in Simi Valley include Monster starring Charlie Hunnam, Countdown, Golf with Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon, Hacks, The Last Thing He Told Me featuring Jennifer Garner, as well as commercials for YouTube, Meta, Walmart, Kohls, Toyota, and Bank of America.

"Simi Valley's prime location, scenic landscapes, and strong industry partnerships make it a top choice for filmmakers," said Mayor Dee Dee Cavanaugh. "Film productions bring real benefits, including supporting local businesses and driving economic growth. Maintaining a film-friendly environment is a priority for the City and a key pillar of our economic vitality."

Local filming activity remains strong as the City heads into 2026. Several notable projects, including for Apple TV, are already permitted and scheduled to begin filming in the coming weeks.

"Film productions contribute significantly to the local economy by creating jobs and generating revenue for restaurants, hotels, gas stations, and other businesses. This economic activity extends beyond the set and helps support essential City services," said City Manager Samantha Argabrite. "Recognizing these benefits, the City Council recently formed an ad-hoc committee to help ensure filming in Simi Valley continues to thrive and grow into 2026 and beyond."

Located within the Los Angeles 30-Mile Studio Zone, Simi Valley offers a wide range of scenic backdrops, unique locations, and a streamlined permitting process, making it an attractive choice for productions of all sizes. Strong partnerships with Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District, Allied Studios, Arroyo West Studios, and American Jewish University further enhance the City's reputation as a premier filming destination.
