GW Community Honors Victims of 9/11
The university and student groups had a moment of reflection and displayed flags to commemorate the nine GW alumni and others who died during the attacks.

The George Washington University held a solemn recognition Thursday morning for those who died during terrorist attacks in the United States on Sept. 11, 2001, including nine GW alumni.
Carillon bells rang at 8:46 a.m. to remember when American Airlines Flight 11 hit the first tower of the World Trade Center in lower Manhattan in New York City. Moments later, Luke Etienne, a senior in the Elliott School of International Affairs, played "Taps" on trumpet at University Yard, where a wreath was displayed.
Carillon bells rang again at 9:37 a.m. to remember when American Airlines Flight 77 hit the Pentagon.
During the same time, student groups College Democrats, College Republicans and Young Americans for Freedom placed scores of U.S. flags in the Flag Campaign Space next to Lisner Auditorium.
