KILLEEN, Texas (September 10, 2025) - The Killeen Fire Department will host its annual Open House on Friday, October 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the newly opened Fire Station 4 and Emergency Operations Center, located at 9200 Trimmier Road. This marks the first time the popular community event will be held at the department's new state-of-the-art facility, which officially opened in September.
The free, family-friendly event is part of the annual national Fire Prevention Week and offers residents an opportunity to explore the new multifunctional fire station while learning essential fire safety tips. This year's activities will include obstacle courses, fire truck and vehicle tours, live fire demonstrations, and snacks while supplies last.
The 2025 Fire Prevention Week theme, "Charge Into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your House," will be featured throughout the event as firefighters educate the community about emerging safety concerns related to modern technology.
Fire Station 4 serves as more than just a traditional fire station - it houses the Emergency Operations Center, a training academy, and the support services division. The new station features modern amenities including a fitness center, training classrooms, conference rooms, and indoor reserve apparatus bays. It is fully staffed with 24 trained Fire Rescue Officers and plays a crucial role in maintaining the department's ISO Classification 1 rating - the highest designation for fire departments.
The Open House provides an excellent opportunity for families to meet local firefighters, ask questions about fire safety, and learn about the department's newest capabilities. All activities are weather permitting and open to the public.
