Stafford County Government will be closed Monday, January 26, 2026, due to inclement weather. On Friday, January 23, 2026, the Stafford County Board of Supervisors declared a local State of Emergency in Stafford County following Governor Abigail Spanberger declaring a State of Emergency for the Commonwealth. The Governor and the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) ask that residents continue to stay off the roads to allow VDOT to clear them as quickly as possible and for first responders to reach emergency calls.
The National Weather Service is forecasting 2 to 4 additional inches of snow today, with a mix of sleet and freezing rain. Ice accumulation of 0.1-0.3 inches is expected, with up to one-quarter inch possible. A prolonged period of dangerously cold wind chills in the single digits or subzero is expected through the middle of next week. Please check on elderly neighbors and bring animals inside, as hypothermia can set in quickly in these conditions.
If you see a downed power line, never touch it. You may report it to Dominion Energy at 1-866-DOM-HELP (366-4357) or NOVEC at 1-888-335-0500.
Other closings include the following:
