PRESS RELEASE BY THE OFFICE OF THE SPEAKER: Courtesy meeting between the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Ambassador-Designate of the State of Israel


The
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Anġlu Farrugia, today held a courtesy meeting with Ms Ruth Cohen-Dar, Ambassador of the State of Israel to the Republic of Malta.

The meeting, held at the Parliament of Malta, marked the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malta and Israel. Discussions focused on the excellent state of bilateral relations and opportunities for deeper cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including trade, innovation, culture, and education.

The Speaker conveyed his best wishes to the Ambassador on her presentation of credentials and extended warm greetings on the recent Jewish holidays. He also expressed Malta's continued solidarity with the people of Israel on the second anniversary of the 7 October attacks, welcoming the release of hostages and the renewed commitment to peace and stability in the region.

Both sides underlined the importance of maintaining dialogue and engagement between Malta and Israel, including within the framework of the EU-Israel Association Agreement. They also exchanged views on regional developments and the ongoing Middle East Peace Process, reaffirming the need for humanitarian support and the pursuit of a lasting.
