We are seeking your support in promoting an upcoming Spokane County Wildfire Mitigation Coalition event that will bring together the community and regional partners to raise awareness of wildfire risk, fuel reduction, and forest health.

May is wildfire preparedness month, and this event will offer residents education, resources, and practical steps to prepare for wildfire season and support home survivability and post-fire recovery. It is also an opportunity to see how Spokane County is working across agencies and jurisdictions in a collaborative approach to mitigate wildfire impacts.

Presentations will include:

  • The connection between forest health and wildfire behavior
  • The impact of ember showers on homes and steps to home hardening
  • An insurance industry perspective on recovery following natural disasters like wildfires direct from the WA State Insurance Commissioner

Although this is a county-wide event, both rural and urban residents will benefit from learning about ember showers and fire risks to their homes by connecting with wildfire mitigation professionals.

Spokane County Wildfire Mitigation Coalition Co-Chair, Nick Jeffries, is available for interviews from May 4 to 7 to support media coverage or provide further insight. We encourage media attendance at the event and appreciate your help in sharing this opportunity with the community.
