BOTHELL - People should prepare for another weekend closure of northbound Interstate 405 in Bothell, beginning Friday, Nov. 6, as crews complete the removal of a pedestrian bridge over the highway.
People traveling northbound throughout the region should expect heavier traffic and longer travel times on northbound I-5 and through Bothell as drivers shift their routes during the closure.
Crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will close all lanes of northbound I-405 from State Route 522 to SR 527 from 11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9. A detour route will be in place.
The following northbound I-405 ramps also will close:
During the full closure, crews will remove a portion of the pedestrian bridge at the Canyon Park Park and Ride as part of the I-405/Brickyard to SR 527 Improvement Project.
The pedestrian bridge needs to be removed to make space for expanding I-405 through Bothell. Crews will build a new pedestrian bridge that will connect to the future Stride bus rapid transit station, which is currently under construction in the middle of the freeway. The new bridge will open in 2028.
The Canyon Park Park and Ride will temporarily close from 11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, until 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9. Crews will also remove the elevator to the pedestrian bridge.
Pedestrians needing to cross I-405 can take Community Transit routes 106 or 120 or follow signs for the temporary construction shuttle.
All bus stops at the park and ride will close for the weekend, with bus service maintained along scheduled routes for alternative pick-up and drop-off locations. More information about the transit reroute is available on the Community Transit blog.
To help ease congestion and delays, people can use transit and park and ride options, be flexible about travel times and plan ahead using real-time traffic information. These choices can make a meaningful difference during major closures and help keep both travelers and highway crews safe.
Schedule updates will be available on WSDOT's online Travel Center map, the WSDOT mobile app and the WSDOT Engage page for I-405/SR 167 construction.
