Trinity Professor Austin Bussing Weighs In On Special Election for Senate Seat

Austin Bussing, assistant professor of political science at Trinity University, spoke with KENS5 TV about the looming special election in Texas to fill the House of Representatives seat left by Republican Tony Gonzalez, who resigned. The timing of a special election could be in play strategically, since California will have a special election in August to replace Democrat Eric Swalwell, and the balance of power in the House is tenuous.

"If we assume that a Democrat will win that (California) election to replace Swalwell, there might be some pressure on Gov. (Greg) Abbott to try to get this seat filled with presumably a Republican," Bussing told the TV station.

Bussing teachers courses on American politics and researches the legislative and executive branches of the United States Government.
