Cary, NC - Cary invites the community to celebrate trees, nature, and environmental stewardship at its annual Arbor Day Festival from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, at the lawn of the Page-Walker Arts & History Center on Town Hall Campus. This free, family-friendly event marks Cary's 43rd year as a Tree City USA community, recognizing the town's long-standing commitment to thoughtful urban forest management. Guests can enjoy live music, kids' activities, local food, and opportunities to connect with environmental experts about native plants, healthy soils, wildlife, and ways to make landscapes more sustainable at home.
Attendees will have the chance to speak directly with arborists and regional environmental organizations about tree care and the important role trees play in supporting clean air, wildlife habitat, and community resilience. Visitors can also register for green giveaways, including a home compost bin, rain barrel, or native plant gardening kit.
The festival will again be held in conjunction with Cary's popular My Tree, Our Tree program, which allows registered Cary residents to receive one free native tree per household to plant at home and help strengthen the community's tree canopy.
"Arbor Day is an opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate the trees that make Cary such a vibrant and healthy place to live," said Assistant Town Manager Danna Widmar. "Through programs like My Tree, Our Tree, and our continued investment in urban forestry, we are helping grow a greener, more resilient Cary for generations to come."
Attendees are encouraged to use the free GoCary bus service to attend the event. All eight GoCary routes connect at the Cary Depot, located just a short walk from the Page-Walker Arts & History Center.
