The University of New Mexico's Center for Southwest Research and Special Collections will host Love in the Archives on Friday, Feb. 12, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Zimmerman Library. The annual event celebrates history, culture and community while inviting visitors to explore rare archival materials and exhibits.
This year's theme, Love of a Journey, invites attendees to explore the stories, photographs, maps and correspondence that trace human experiences across time and place. Exhibits will feature rare archival photographs and documents that reveal how people traveled, communicated and connected with one another in past eras.
Love in the Archives is free and open to the public, offering a chance to discover the depth and richness of the UNM Libraries' holdings. The event will include curated displays, hands-on activities and refreshments. Organizers encourage visitors to immerse themselves in archival treasures that illuminate the evolution of human journeys and connections.
The annual Valentine's-themed open house has become a cherished tradition at UNM, showcasing the breadth of historical and cultural materials held by the libraries and providing unique insights into shared community heritage.
