San Pedro DMV Office to Close Temporarily

What you need to know: The San Pedro office will close temporarily on October 28 at 5 p.m. However, most customers do not have to visit an office and can do their DMV business at dmv.ca.gov.

Sacramento - The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) today announced that the San Pedro office at 1511 N. Gaffey St. will close temporarily beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday, October 28, for termite fumigation. The office is scheduled to reopen at 8 a.m. Monday, November 3.

Customers can visit the following area offices during the closure:

  • Torrance DMV: 1785 W. 220th St. (6 miles from the San Pedro office)
  • Long Beach DMV: 3700 E. Willow St. (12 miles from the San Pedro office)
  • Compton DMV: 2111 S. Santa Fe Ave. (15 miles from the San Pedro office)

Before Going to a DMV Office - Try Online First

Most DMV tasks do not require an office visit. The DMV encourages customers to use its online services and other service channels to complete transactions, such as eligible driver's license and vehicle registration renewals. Customers can also use the Service Advisor on the DMV website to learn about options to complete DMV tasks.

Go Paperless - To sign up for paperless vehicle registration and driver's license renewal notices, sign in or create a secure online account at dmv.ca.gov to opt in.
