Equipment failure led to an estimated 150,000 gallons of wastewater spilling onto a patch of land at the Jones Island Water Reclamation Facility. No wastewater entered Lake Michigan or nearby rivers. The spill began on January 6 at around 11:25 PM and continued until 2:25 AM on January 7, 2026. The incident was reported to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR).
