New Archway Created by Local Artist Steve Davis Installed at Burrell Odom Park

A new archway created by local artist Steve Davis was installed at Burrell Odom earlier this month. The piece entitled "Odom Portal" was selected by the City's Public Art Advisory Committee.
"We discussed many ideas for the space but landed on the idea of a gateway or archway to the park near the basketball court," shared Alexis Clark, member of the Public Art Advisory Committee. "We agreed that the piece should have sporting elements involved in the design, especially golf because that was a favorite past-time at Burrell Odom."
The committee chose artist Steve Davis due to his well-known art contributions to the Tuscaloosa community, including in front of the Children's Hands-On Museum, and is known for his metal work. Davis opened his studio, Sunheart Metalworks, in Northport in 1993.
Burrell Odom Park, an Elevate project, opened earlier this year in April. The park is located at 3230 8th Street. To learn more, visit elevatetuscaloosa.com
