Volunteers and Participants Needed for One-Day Service Project to Help Local Seniors

Gilbert, Ariz. - The Town of Gilbert is hosting a Day of Service for Seniors on Saturday, July 18, from 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM, a community event focused on helping older adults live more safely and comfortably at home.

As people age, even simple household chores can become difficult. For many seniors on fixed incomes, hiring help isn't an option. That's where our community steps in. This hands-on event will bring volunteers directly into the homes of local seniors to perform light indoor tasks, such as:

  • Light housecleaning
  • Changing light bulbs
  • Replacing batteries in smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms
  • Other small, meaningful indoor jobs

These quick repairs can make a big difference, a working smoke detector can save a life, and a clean, safe home helps maintain dignity and independence.

Who We're Looking For

Seniors in Need of Assistance: We seek older adults who could benefit from this support but cannot afford these services. If you or someone you know is a senior in need of help around the house, please contact [email protected]. No task is too small, your safety and comfort are our priorities.

Volunteers: If you're looking for a meaningful way to give back, no special skills are needed just a willing heart and a few hours on a Saturday morning. Volunteers will be paired with seniors and work in small teams to complete projects efficiently and respectfully.

For many seniors, home is where their memories, independence, and sense of self reside. Helping them maintain a safe, functional living space is a deeply personal way to serve our community. In just four hours, we can significantly impact the lives of neighbors who have contributed so much over the years.
